Leona Lewis on leaving Simon Cowell's label: 'It was like leaving home'

Songstress Leona Lewis recently revealed that she has left Sony's Syco imprint to join Island Records and feels like the move is a positive one because now she isn't working under music mogul Simon Cowell's watchful eye.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about her decision to leave Syco and move elsewhere, the beauty admitted that there was no bad blood and she just wanted to walk her own path outside of her 'X Factor' and Cowell ties:

"No, [it was] not difficult, really. I've been with Sony for eight years. They've given me my launch pad and now it's time for me to make my own tracks in my own way."

Lewis went onto add that it felt like 'leaving home': "For me, it's like leaving home. It's like, 'Bye, mum and dad. It's time to go out and live my own life'. I'm really being able to spread my wings, fly and make something for myself now."
