Leona Lewis: 'Recording a Christmas album in the summer was a blessing in disguise'

Songstress Leona Lewis has revealed that laying down vocals on her newly released festive record was a challenge as she did that around six months prior to the holiday period.

During a new interview with Elle magazine, Lewis confessed that recording a Christmas album in the summer was a strange experience although it helped to keep her spirits high:

"I thought, 'Oh, this is going to be so weird. How am I going to feel Christmas-y?' First off, I recorded it in the UK, which is not the sunniest [place]. Of course this summer was literally like the sunniest on record. It ended up being a blessing in disguise because I started playing loads of Christmas songs and really kind of delving into all of these kind of classics."

"And I discovered some really amazing recordings that I probably never would have had I not had to really get into that kind of Christmas vibe."

She also opened up about shooting the accompanying music video for 'One More Sleep' and admitted that she brought her friends onto the set to work on it with her, which was fun: "It’s me and my mates. They wanted me to cast a bunch of actors but that wasn’t happening because I wanted it to be realistic. I feel like they are a handsome bunch!"
