Liam Gallagher: "One Direction are mad for it"

Liam Gallagher says One Direction are "mad for it" - despite calling them his "biggest competition".

The Beady Eye singer has been critical of the boyband in the past, whilst his brother and former Oasis comrade Noel is no stranger to lashing out at the 'Kiss You' stars.

Speaking to the BBC, Liam Gallagher said that he believes Harry Styles and co. are his band's top competition.

However, he seemed to praise the gung-ho spirit of the group, saying:

"I'm not into their music. [But] fair play to them, man, they got lucky - like we all do, I guess - and they're just going for it. That's what it's all about, innit? It's all going to end at some point. And when it ends, you want to make sure you've ticked all the boxes."

Beady Eye's second album 'BE' meanwhile is due to be released on June 10.
