Lily Allen to write letter to Rita Ora about song namecheck

Lily Allen says she intends to speak to Rita Ora to tell her that she isn't slagging her off in a new song.

The singer namechecks the 'Hot Right Now' star in the song 'Insincerely Yours', but she told Popjustice that no malice was intended.

The 'Hard Out Here' icon said: "A few people have said to me, 'you’re going to p*ss off so many people by namechecking this person and that person' and I think, 'well, yes', but I’ve always made a thing of social commentary and commentary on pop culture, and I don’t think you can do that unless you namecheck the people at the forefront of that culture.

"Actually I still need to write letters to Rita Ora and Cara Delevingne. In actual fact the song where I appear to slag off Rita and Jordan ['Insincerely Yours'] is very much the same premise as ‘Cheryl Tweedy’ all those years ago. It’s not about them, it’s about the idea of them – how the media perceive them.

"It’s about how the way the media perceive them as entities and how that actually has nothing to do with how they are in real life. And Delevingne rhymes with magazine."

Allen meanwhile is due to release her new album 'Sheezus' on May 5.
