Lily Allen on trying to make money as a musician: 'Attending events is important'

Songstress Lily Allen has admitted that it's hard to make a living from just selling records, so as an artist she has to put herself out there in hopes that other strains of the entertainment industry might want her for various projects

During an interview with ITV's 'Loose Women' from earlier today (May 7), the beauty explained that it's important to be seen at different events because other opportunities for work can spring from being photographed on red carpets:

"Anything can be consumed on the internet so you're constantly trying to think of other streams to make money out of because you're not going to get it from record sales. Things like going to the Met Ball are important because they give you a presence in the fashion and beauty arena and hopefully some beauty brand might think 'Oh she looks quite pretty'."

Referring to the New York City Met Ball Gala, which she was at over the weekend, Allen added that it wasn't just a 'for fun' night out because people were there to be seen: "It's really lovely to be invited to those things. It's not a night out with your friends, it's not fun, everyone is like lets pose for the camera and is a little bit stiff."

The 'Air Balloon' hitmaker took to her official Twitter page earlier this afternoon and confessed that appearing on 'Loose Women' was an enjoyable experience: "What a laugh to be on Loose Women. Loved it!!!! Thanks for having me."
