Lily Allen shares her 'Desert Island Discs' picks

Songstress Lily Allen appeared as a guest yesterday (June 29) on Radio 4's Desert Island Discs programme and gave a list of eight records she would consider to be her favourites.

She included the likes of Pulp, The Streets, and 'Baker Street' hitmaker Gerry Rafferty on her list, which can be seen in full below, and explained that music is very personal, which is why her songs are so emotionally open:

"The only thing I can do really is write lyrics," she confessed. "The only way I know how to do that is by being honest and doing it with integrity, because otherwise there's no point."

Pulp - 'Common People'
Sultans Of Ping FC - 'Where's Me Jumper?'
The Stone Roses - 'I Am The Resurrection'
The Streets - 'Blinded By The Lights'
Gerry Rafferty - 'Right Down The Line'
Etta James - 'I'd Rather Go Blind'
General Degree - 'Traffic Blocking'
Tommy McLain - 'Before I Grow Too Old'
