Lily Allen says 'divorce' should be addressed by curriculum

Hitmaker Lily Allen has given her views on education and revealed that young people today aren't adequately equipped to go into the 'big bad world' when they finish school.

Speaking to LBC's Shelagh Fogarty this week, the songstress admitted that the curriculum should be addressing such things as “a beginner’s guide to getting food” and “an introduction to divorce”, and prompted by her remarks the interviewer asked about Allen's rumoured marriage troubles.

The 'Smile' sensation avoided answering the question directly, but said: "It seems people get themselves into all sorts of situations and they have to spend extortionate amounts of money on accountants and lawyers to sort it out.”

Allen went onto talk about the fact that children should also be taught about taxes and finances, adding: "I've never been able to get my head around my finances. I was terrible at maths. I've had an accountant in employment since the age of 19."

“If my daughter came to me with any questions about any of this stuff (mortgages etc.), I would not have a clue. It's more me worrying about my children and them having to face the big, bad world without the necessary tools to do so.”
