Lily Allen has spoken of her gratitude to well-wishers following the reported birth of her second child with husband Sam Cooper.

The media reported this morning (January 10) that Allen, who is now going by her married name of Lily Cooper, gave birth to a girl on Tuesday (January 8) called Marnie Rose.

Cooper has now given the strongest indication yet that the stories are true, taking to Twitter to say:

"Quite overwhelmed by all the well wishing going on. THANKYOU everybody x x x."

Responding later to TV and radio's Lauren Laverne on the subject of resting, the singer said:

"Yeah right! Can't uncross my eyes. Unique mixture of tiredness and strong painkillers."

Cooper gave birth to her first child Ethel in November 2011.
