Lily Allen: 'Ellie Goulding, Laura Mvula and Kate Nash have praised my new single'

Songstress Lily Allen has opened up about the reception her new single and video, for 'Hard Out Here', has received from her contemporaries.

Speaking to the NME at last night's London Eye event, the beauty admitted that while there has been both good and bad feedback so far, other female solo artists have been really supportive of it which made her happy:

"There's been a lot of praise [for 'Hard Out Here']. Millions. Laura Mvula, Ellie Goulding and Kate Nash were all in touch. Loads more. Laura Mvula said she both laughed and cried with happiness when she saw it." She also confessed that there have been a fair few criticisms made about the video, adding: "But we’re not going to talk about them."

"I didn't have any intention of what people would talk about [when the song was released]. All you can do is put something out there, and the way people interpret it is the way people interpret it. I'm just happy people are talking about it."

Earlier today (November 15), Allen told London's Evening Standard that she has lost a lot of sleep over her comeback: "I think objectification of women is fine if I feel that there is a sense of ownership from the woman. If it comes from somewhere else and it feels like the woman is being coerced or forced into something then it's gross."
