Lily Allen: 'Rihanna's an inspiring bitch and Miley Cyrus is my hero'

Songstress Lily Allen has opened up about the meaning behind her brand new comeback single, 'Hard Out Here', and confessed that it's an empowering anthem.

Speaking to Britain's Observer newspaper, the hitmaker explained how she uses the word bitch in her new song and gave some examples of women who fit her own definition:

"Dolly Parton is a bitch. Adele's a bitch. [German Chancellor] Angela Merkel is a bitch. Rihanna's an inspiring bitch, my mum, Miley's a bitch, rising. She's my hero. Kate Middleton is not a bitch."

She added that her intention with the video was to reassure people that you don't have to be typically 'hot' to be successful or to enjoy life:

"I'm not moaning at the world any more. Before, I was struggling. Coming out of adolescence and not knowing where I was in the world... now it's about ownership and empowerment. I'd like to think that my children's generation won't feel like this. Like I do. I want them to realize that not everyone can be f**king 'hot'. Rather than attractiveness being the end prize, it should be as rewarding to be clever or funny."
