'The Voice' judge Ricky Wilson: 'The show doesn't rely on novelty'

Kaiser Chiefs star Ricky Wilson has opened up about filming the brand new season of 'The Voice' and confessed that the show is great because it 'doesn't rely on novelty' contestants.

Speaking at the series 3 launch recently, Wilson explained that unlike other televised vocal talent shows 'The Voice' is more focused on finding talent and helping turn it into a real career:

"We've filmed a bit of it and I haven't felt the momentum slow down. In fact, if anything it's getting scarier and scarier and more critical. At first I cared when I turned for people, and then in the battles I cared even more, and then in the knockouts I cared even more."

"And now, it's a weird feeling. I didn't think it was going to go that far. And we don't rely on the novelty of people being there that shouldn't be there later on. It gets to everyone's getting better and better, and it's going down to the best singer."

Wilson added: "So if you want to watch a show where the person who wins it at the end is the best singer and it's happened like a graph, then this is the show for you. If you don't, if you want to see people making fools of themselves, then you can go to other stations."
