Frank Turner on 'Mastermind' win: 'I got aggressive about it!'

'The Way I Tend To Be' singer Frank Turner has opened up about his recent impressive win on 'Celebrity Mastermind'.

The musician appeared on the game show as a contestant to raise money for homelessness charity Shelter and answered questions on his specifically chosen topic of Iron Maiden. During a new interview with Kerrang! magazine, he explained that being on the programme was a lifetime ambition:

"Basically I was a massive nerd when I was a kid. With that in mind, 'Mastermind' was always on my to do list - or rather, my fantasy to do list. It was funny because the first band I ever fell in love with was Maiden and I always said they'd be my specialist subject."

"On the show, at the end of the first round, I was actually coming third and I was sitting there thinking, 'f**k this, I am not going to lose this'. So I got quite, sort of, aggressive about it, in my head," said Turner. "I seemed more bothered about it than any of the other contestants on the show. They were all a bit more like, 'have fun with it'. So I was probably more at a disadvantage because I'd got myself so amped up, nervous and psyched out about it and they were all like, 'whatever'."
