Former Disney starlet Hilary Duff and her husband, NHL hockey player Mike Comrie, have decided to split up. 

The pair married back in 2010 and together they have one child, a son, named Luca Cruz Comrie, who will turn 2-years-old in March of this year. 

A representative for the couple issued an official statement on the sad news, which reads: "Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie have mutually decided to an amicable separation. They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time."

Earlier this month, Duff opened up about her imminent return to music and confessed that despite wanting to be relevant she won't be dressing provocatively in order to regain a fanbase:

"There are a lot of artists out there being really provocative, wearing certain clothes and performing in certain ways, but right now that’s just not me. I’ve always tried to stay true to who I am and present that to the public because I think when you’re not authentic, people can smell it on you. Besides, if everyone’s doing the same thing then even being provocative isn’t really provocative."
