Prince performs 'open soundcheck' in London

Prince performed a surprise 'open soundcheck' in London last night (February 4).

The show, which took place at the Electric Ballroom at midnight, was announced after a press conference in the home of singer Lianne La Havas.

Members of the press and other notables got an exclusive preview of Prince and his 3rdEyeGirl group before the public got entry.

A host of new tracks were aired, including 'PlectrumElectrum' and 'PretzelBodyLogic', whilst the likes of Marcus Mumford were in attendance.

Other songs played on the night included 'I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man', 'I Like It Here' and a cover of Wild Cherry's 'Funky Music'.

Prince and his cronies are due to play the venue again tonight (February 5), with the musician saying: “We will be here tomorrow, a bit earlier and a lot funkier.”

Last month, the US icon announced plans to tour "in and around London" in February as promotion for 3rdEyeGirl's upcoming new album 'PlectrumElectrum', which will hit shelves later this year.
