Tegan and Sara share their top Valentine's Day songs

Canadian duo Tegan and Sara have given the Rolling Stone a list of their favourite Valentine's Day appropriate tunes.

The romantic holiday will take place worldwide tomorrow (February 14) and the singers explained to the magazine that while it can be a really 'cheesy' thing to celebrate there are some great love songs out there. Tegan Quin explained:

"A majority of love songs I listen to are sad. Valentine's Day can be so cheesy, but still sincere and romantic."

She listed Bruce Springsteen's 'I'm On Fire' and said of the track, "it's Bruce. Please. If a girl throws on Bruce, she has my heart." Alicia Keys' 'Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready)' also made the cut and Tegan added, "this is just a perfect, perfect love song. It's awesome".

Other songs that made the list include Boy's 'Little Numbers', My Midnight Heart's 'Solace', and Say Lou Lou's 'Julian'.

The stars have also just been nominated for 4 Juno awards and are up for Single of the Year for 'Closer', Group of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year. Tweeting about the honour this week, they wrote: "We're thrilled to perform at @TheJUNOAwards this year and absolutely stunned that Heartthrob is nominated 4 times!"
