Lady Gaga and U2 help Jimmy Fallon start Tonight Show reign in style

The likes of Lady Gaga and U2 were on hand to help ease Jimmy Fallon into his new role as the Tonight Show host.

The US TV presenter recently took over from Jay Leno on the legendary NBC show and his first appearance as host came on Monday (February 17).

A myriad of celebrities attended the New York taping, with most of them rearing their heads during a star-studded skit.

Fallon joked that he was due $100 from those who bet that he would never end up as the Today Show host - with Robert DeNiro coming out to begrudgingly hand over some money.

The likes of Mariah Carey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Kardashian then all came out too, before Lady Gaga finished it off with a peck on the cheek.

U2 meanwhile performed her new single 'Invisible' on the rooftop.

Fallon and Will Smith also ran through an 'Evolution of Hip Hop Dance' routine.
