Ant & Dec on PJ & Duncan gigs: 'People would throw ashtrays and ice cubes at us'

Ant & Dec have admitted that they didn't have the best of times performing as PJ & Duncan.

The TV duo, who are returning to British screens with Saturday Night Takeaway tomorrow (March 1), reached fame as pop duo PJ & Duncan in the 1990s.

Their standout hit was 'Let's Get Ready to Rhumble', but the pair told Graham Norton's chat show that it wasn't an easy ride when performing as their alter-egos.

Dec said: "We played awful venues - night clubs, under-10 discos and truck festivals. The girls would scream and their boyfriends would stand on the balcony and throw ashtrays and ice cubes at us."

Speaking about their close relationship, Ant added: "There is no pressure on us to get on as our friendship comes first and our careers second."

Ant & Dec meanwhile revived their PJ & Duncan personas for a one-off performance last year on Saturday Night Takeaway.
