The parents of two Chelsea High School choir students in Michigan, USA, have filed an urgent appeal over a song choice for an upcoming event at the educational facility because of the provocative lyrics it boasts. 

The song in question is One Direction's anthem, 'Live While We're Young', and Michael and Mary Stone have sent a strongly worded letter to members of the school board as well as local press, claiming that the track is highly inappropriate for the upcoming Showcase of Choirs. It reads:

"We respectfully bring before you our concern over a musical selection for Chelsea High School’s show choir, Company C, “Live While We’re Young” by One Direction... a selection which was made by the company’s music director, Mr. Stephen Hinz."

"The concern over the sexual innuendo contained within the lyrics of this song was initiated by a student member of the company and resulted in four students withdrawing from that particular song because of their conscientious objection to the innuendo. These lyrics promote sexual activity among teens (One Direction’s targeted audience) by implying a casual one-night hook-up and by hinting at the serious issue of sexting.”

The angry parents added that the event's music director, Mr. Stephen Hinz, is violating school codes by having the song included in the program and they're very upset that lyrics such as "don't let the pictures leave your phone", “I know we've only met, but lets pretend it's love", and "tonight let's get some" will be played at the showcase. They concluded:

"By asking the students to perform a musical selection containing such sexual innuendo he is causing the participating student members to be in violation of the Code of Conduct forbidding the use of sexual innuendo outlined for the high school.”
