X Factor musical producers apologise for delays: "There's still work to do"

The producers of new X Factor musical I Can't Sing! have apologised after numerous delays affected its preview shows.

Taster performances of the spoof, which was masterminded by Harry Hill and backed by Simon Cowell, started days late at London's Palladium theatre on Wednesday (March 5).

However, on one occasion, the audience was left waiting for around 45 minutes between two acts.

This has prompted the producers of the show - which features the likes of Nigel Harman sending up notable X Factor personalities - to issue a statement of apology.

They said: "We've had an absolutely terrific response from our preview audiences, with standing ovations each night so far. We have a huge and ambitious set, which is thrilling our audiences when they see it, but we're aware that the turnaround between acts needs to be quicker and our technical teams continue to work extremely hard on shortening it.

"The preview period for any new West End show is, by its nature, a time for ironing out any issues and we fully recognise that there's still work to do on the interval length, which is getting shorter all the time, and we thank everyone for their patience."

The musical is set to open officially to the public on March 26.
