Tyler, The Creator arrested on riot charge at SXSW

American rapper Tyler, The Creator was arrested yesterday (March 15) at SXSW on a riot charge

The Odd Future rap star was taken in by police at Austin-Bergstrom Airport in relation to an incident that took place earlier in the week at the Austin, Texas music festival on March 13.

An arrest affidavit reports that during a live show at the Scoot Inn in downtown Austin the ‘Yonkers’ star urged fans to push their way past the venue’s staff into a show which was already at full capacity.

23-year-old Tyler is reported to have stated: ““All y’all outside the games, y’all push through.”

The arrest affidavit also notes that a bartender at the Scoot Inn was punched in the face by an unknown male as he tried to protect a woman from being trampled.

The Associated Press have reported that Tyler The Creator – real name Tyler Gregory Okonma - was arrested without incident on a misdemeanour riot charge.

Austin police have confirmed that his bail amount was set at $25,000.

If convicted of a riot charge – a class-A misdemeanour – Tyler, The Creator could face up to six months in jail.
