Presenter Jameela Jamil gets death threats from Miley Cyrus fans

Radio 1 presenter Jameela Jamil has revealed that fans of former Disney sensation Miley Cyrus have been sending her online abuse and even death threats after she criticised the star's overt sexual nature.

Speaking at a recent press conference, Jamil explained that she has been targeted by Smilers for making several comments about how Cyrus uses her body to get more media attention:

"I have had quite a lot of those death threats, really scary, sexual threats. All because I might have touched on Miley Cyrus and her overt use of her sexuality and vagina to give her more of a platform in the media."

"You don't always see that in magazines and in all publications. You see women tearing down other women, women publishing unflattering photographs of other women, chastising other women."

Jamil then added that now is a time for women to start standing together and supporting each other: "It's time to encourage one another. The media which criticises young people are the same media who are guilty of turning us against each other."

After being slammed by Cyrus's fans again this evening (April 2), Jamil took to her official Twitter page and shared a photo of the 'We Can't Stop' songstress bending over in a very revealing bodysuit (shown above left), accompanying it with the caption: "Guys, I've been thinking, and you're right... maybe she IS an icon of feminism..."
