Miley Cyrus and Justin Timberlake Finland gigs escape US sanctions

Concerts due to be held by Miley Cyrus and Justin Timberlake in Finland are safe after it was confirmed that they won't fall foul of US sanctions.

The two American singers are due to play the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland in May and June.

However, their gigs appeared to be threatened after it emerged that the owners of the arena were Russians Gannady Timchenko, Boris Rotenberg and Arkady Rotenberg.

The trio are among a number of high-profile Russians who have had sanctions placed against them following the country's annexation of Crimea in Ukraine.

This means that no US citizen can give them "economic resources" - bringing into doubt concerts at the venue involving Americans.

However, a spokesperson for promoter Live Nation has confirmed that the gigs will go ahead in the original venue.

They told Reuters: "The sanctions will not have an impact on Hartwall Arena nor our business there."

Cyrus is due to play the Hartwall Arena on June 1 whilst Timberlake is scheduled to play the venue on May 12.

Other US artists due to play the arena soon include Nine Inch Nails and Aerosmith.
