Simon Cowell on James Arthur: 'He hasn't been dropped, I wouldn't want to air that in public'

Music mogul Simon Cowell has confirmed that 'X Factor' winner James Arthur hasn't been dropped from his SyCo record label, although he does want to have a 'talk' with him about the lyrics he recently released.

Earlier this month, the rising star unleashed a new mixtape and some lyrics on a song 'Follow the Leader' caused quite a stir, which saw rumours start to circulate that suggested Arthur had been let go from the prestigious label.

Cowell, speaking to reporters at a recent press conference for Britain's Got Talent, he explained: "No he hasn't been dropped. I haven't phoned him yet. I wouldn't want to air it in public. "You know what, I think him and I just need to sit down and have a conversation. A lot of what you read online isn't true.

He added: "This silly business of 'he said this', 'he said that', it's all nonsense, it really is. It just needs to calm down a bit."

Arthur, meanwhile, took to his official Twitter page this afternoon (April 9) and told his followers that he will share the offending song with them later today so that people can hear the lyrics for themselves:

"The recent teaser of "Follow the leader" has caused a bit of trouble recently as it's been taken out of context so... There will be a rough version available to hear tonight so that you can see that it's not glorifying terrorism or anything of that nature x."
