Neil Young fan charged for £2,600 after downloading album

A Neil Young fan was left angered recently after being billed £2,600 ($4,348) for downloading one of his albums.

Katie Bryan was on a visit to South Africa from England when she decided to buy 'The Essential Neil Diamond' on iTunes over a phone data connection.

However, she was later charged £2,600 by Orange because of data roaming charges.

They stated that the 320MB download would cost £8 per megabyte. However, after a series of phone calls, Orange changed their mind and decided to rescind the charges.

She told the Daily Telegraph: "I think Orange are preying on people who make a mistake while abroad. Why such a massive difference in cost? In England you would just pay the album price. There is no way this huge bill relates to the actual cost to Orange.

"You hear of people doing this and you think, 'Stupid person - why did you do that?'. I do feel foolish. But I also feel it is morally wrong to be expected to pay this sort of money for a Neil Diamond album."
