James Corden on BRITs hosting gig: 'It was horrid'

British funnyman and actor James Corden has revealed that his hosting job at the BRIT Awards wasn't enjoyable because the event was full of people there purely because it was cool to be seen at the ceremony.

During an interview on The Michael McIntyre Chat Show this week, Corden explained that celebrities just attended because it was a televised event and didn't really care about what was going on around them, which made his job really difficult as the presenter:

"It was horrid. It is so much fun the week leading up to it and you get to see the bands, and then it is live and you are in this room full of people that don't listen to anything you say. People who beg for a ticket turn up and pretend they are too cool to be there. They are all chatting, drinking and eating."

"It doesn't feel like there is a TV show going on, it feels like a big social function being watched by the rest of people in the arena. You are doing it and people are walking past you, they know it is on TV."

Back in February this year, before the 2014 BRITs, Corden told press that hosting the star-studded music ceremony was a dream come true: "I thought last year was going to be my last, but then someone said, 'Well if you do it next year you'll have done it more than anyone else'. I was like, 'Alright'. I just thought, if I could tell my 12-year-old self that one day I would host this big show more than anybody else, his head would explode. I just feel like a fan in there."
