James Van Der Beek on appearing in Kesha's video for 'Blow': 'I didn't care what people would think'

'Dawson's Creek' actor James Van Der Beek has defended his appearance in Kesha's music video for 'Blow' and insisted that he accepted the bizarre cameo because he wasn't thinking about the public's perception of him.

Speaking during a Reddit question and answer session, the star explained that he was asked by the director to star in the clip and decided it would be a lot of fun so just went for it:

"The director, Chris Marrs (Chris Marrs Piliero), got the job by pitching his vision to her, and that vision included me with a laser gun shooting unicorns who bled rainbows. I was in a period in my career where I stopped worrying about what people might think and just started saying yes to anything I hadn't done before that sounded like it might be fun."

Earlier this year, Kesha entered a rehabilitation facility for an eating disorder and recently finished her program there, telling fans that she now feels stronger: "Happy to be back! Feeling healthy & working on tons of new music/ I can't thank my fans enough for all the love & support u have given me. Life is beautiful. I'm so blessed to have u all."
