Dolly Parton on Miley Cyrus: 'I'm worried because she told me she needs to murder Hannah Montana'

Miley Cyrus's godmother, Dolly Parton, has revealed that watching the former Disney sensation transform to child sensation to grown-up pop songstress has been hard and she worries about the 'We Can't Stop' singer even now that she has established herself.

In a new interview with Britain's The Sun newspaper, the 'Jolene' icon confessed that Cyrus once told her she wanted to 'murder Hannah Montana' and had to do that in order to move forward with her career:

"One day she'd had enough and told me, 'I need to murder Hannah Montana in order for people to accept who I really am.' I think she felt she had to make that severe a change... and she obviously did. I was very worried - I was holding my breath, hoping that people didn't totally crucify her."

Parton added: "It would have scared me to death to do it, even though I've always been a brave person myself. But she felt she had to make a place for herself in this pop world [...] if she's as smart as I think she is, I think she'll make the right decisions."
