London Grammar: 'Artists now have more control than ever'

Songstress Hannah Reid, who fronts London Grammar, has revealed that now is a great time to be in the music industry because artists have more creative control than ever before.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz about freedom bands have with their labels, Reid explained that the control has shifted from executives back to the groups themselves, which is how it should be:

"I actually watched an interview with Pharrell [Williams] recently where he said, 'This is a time in music where you can be yourself'. It [the industry] went through a funny period but now it is coming back to artists having more control again."

It has also just been confirmed that London Grammar have been nominated for an Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for their track 'Strong', and member Dot Major added that being signed to an independent label gives them more control:

"We've been quite lucky really, we're on an independent label and I think they're less inclined to do that sort of thing."

The 2014 Ivor Novello awards will take place at London's Grosvenor House on May 22. Other nominated acts include Arctic Monkeys, Olly Murs, Emeli Sande, Passenger, and Everything Everything.
