Police confirm heroin "likely" to have played part in Peaches Geldof's death

Police have announced that heroin is "likely" to have contributed to Peaches Geldof's death.

The 25-year-old media personality, who was the daughter of Bob Geldof, was found dead on April 7 at an address in Kent.

An inquest took place today (May 1) and police confirmed earlier newspaper reports that heroin may have played a part in her death.

They say her death reports "concluded recent use of heroin. At levels identified, likely to have played a role in her death".

The inquest heard that Geldof's body was found by husband Thomas Cohen on the edge of a bed in a spare room. It was obvious to him that she was dead.

He located their then 11-month-old son Phaedra before asking his mother, who was also in the property, to phone the emergency services.

Today's inquest lasted four minutes and it has been adjourned until July 23.

Geldof is survived by husband Cohen and sons Astala, one, and Phaedra, also one.

Her mother, Paula Yates, died in 2000 as the result of an accidental heroin overdose.
