Blondie singer Debbie Harry has joked that Iggy Pop has been "twerking" for years.

The music veteran was asked by the Guardian for her thoughts on contemporary acts like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga pushing taste boundaries.

Harry replied that whilst there may be more nudity these days, music acts have been on the cusp of offending people for years.

She said: "I think it [risque behaviour] is becoming more par for the course, although I think there's more nudity now. But as far as doing something that's offensive or antisocial [chuckles]...we were probably as antisocial as they come. And I think Iggy [Pop] has been vomiting and twerking for most of his career! So there you go."

Speaking about whether Lady Gaga is influenced by her, Harry added:

"Oh, I don't know. I might owe her a big one because she inspires me as well. I hope we inspire each other. She does things in a very artistic way."

When asked meanwhile if the 'Applause' star is the 21st Century Debbie Harry, the singer replied:

"I guess if I was retired I might wish for that but I'm still at it."
