Producer explains how Taylor Swift got cast in movie adaptation of 'The Giver'

'Treacherous' songstress Taylor Swift stars in the adaptation of young adult novel 'The Giver', which is by author Lois Lowry, and the film's producer has now revealed how she landed the part.

Her character, Rosemary, appears only in flashbacks and for a few very brief scenes, but producer Nikki Silver explained that she was perfect for the role and even used her piano playing skills to bring the character to life:

"She’s a very soulful, interesting young woman and we had this very out-of-the box idea that maybe it would make sense that she could be our Rosemary. And she’s fantastic. I’ve spent a lot of time with her, and she had just been looking to dip her toe slightly in acting…"

Silver added: "She doesn’t sing in the movie, but she does play a little piano, which we had written for that character before we hired her. She was interested, we were interested. It was one of things that was timing and just happened."

'The Giver' will hit theatres in the USA on August 15 and a still can be seen from the film above left, in which Swift shows off a brunette hair style.
