Michael Jackson's 'Xscape' debuts at the top of the UK album chart

Michael Jackson has rocketed to the top of the UK album chart once again with a new posthumous collection titled ‘Xscape’.

‘Xscape’ is the late pop star’s second album of previously unheard material to be released since his death in June 2009. ‘Xscape’ has fared better than 2010’s ‘Michael’ which peaked at No. 4 and gives the ‘Thriller’ star his tenth chart-topping LP.

This week’s top five features two further new entries. The Black Keys have achieved their highest charting UK album to date with ‘Turn Blue’ debuting at No. 2. Paloma Faith is up one to No. 3 with ‘A Perfect Contradiction’, Paolo Nutini’s ‘Caustic Love’ is down one to No. 4 and British singer Foxes is new at No. 5 with her debut album ‘Glorious’.

Other new entries to the top 40 come from Nick Mulvey at No. 10 with ‘Full Mind’, ‘Unrepentant Geraldines’ from Tori Amos at No. 13, Little Dragon are just behind at No. 14 with ‘Nabuma Rubberband’, Blondie’s 40th anniversary collection, ‘Blondie 4(0)-Ever’, at No. 16, Swans’ ‘To Be Kind’ at No. 38, and Eurovision runners up The Common Linnets have reached No. 40 with their self-titled debut album.
