Lorde and Justin Timberlake win big at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards

Last night (May 19) saw the return of the annual Billboard Music Awards and Justin Timberlake was the big winner of the night, taking home a total of 7 prizes

The 'Suit & Tie' superstar scored the Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Album and Top R&B Album for 'The 20/20 Experience'.

New Zealand hitmaker Lorde, meanwhile, picked up the Top Rock Song title for 'Royals' and also won the Top New Artist trophy. Katy Perry scooped two gongs for Top Female Artist and Top Digital Songs Artist, 'We Can't Stop' sensation Miley Cyrus won Top Streaming Artist and Top Streaming Song (for 'Wrecking Ball'), and Justin Bieber picked up the Top Social Artist title. 

'Team' beauty Lorde took to her official Twitter page after the awards ceremony and thanked her fans for giving her the opportunity to win coveted prizes, writing: "THANKYOU for giving me a chance to grow and get better - it's all you."

Timberlake also shared an update on the social networking site, which read: "Thank you @OfficialBBMAs!!! I get to take home 7 #BBMAs!!!! SUCH AN HONOR!"
