Ed Drewett on writing for One Direction and other acts: 'It's something I'll do as long as I live'

Songwriter Ed Drewett has revealed that if he gets a solo record deal he would continue to write music for the likes of One Direction and Olly Murs, because it's a passion of his.

The rising star recently auditioned for 'Britain's Got Talent' and got through to the next stage of the contest, but told Digital Spy at the Ivor Novello awards that even if he goes on to enjoy success as a singer he would carry on with his behind-the-scenes work:

"Absolutely. I think that's something I'll continue to do as long as I live - writing for other people. As long as I'm, hopefully, writing good quality stuff and people want it, then I'm happy to write for them. It's a great job and something I enjoy."

When asked if he hopes that fans of the 'Story Of My Life' heartthrobs will get behind and support him on this new journey, Drewett admitted that it would be nice although he doesn't want unfair treatment: "Hopefully, but I don't want it to be like, 'Everyone get on board'. I want it to be fair, because there's a lot of other good acts. If they support me, then great. I want it to be a good competition."
