Will Ferrell and Chad Smith finally put their 'rivalry' to the test last night (May 22) as they performed a drum battle on US TV.

The actor and the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer have regularly been noted for looking remarkably similar.

Earlier this year they joked about their looks and suggested that they could take part in a drum battle for charity.

The event finally took place on the Tonight Show and it saw the duo wear the same clothes as they took to the kit.

However, Ferrell had an easy ride as he mimed along to real drumming in the background.

Smith's band The Red Hot Chili Peppers then came on stage for a surprise performance of Blue Oyster Cult's 'Don't Fear The Reaper' as Ferrell played along on the cowbell.

Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon then decided to name the Anchorman actor as the winner.
