Solange music sales increase following Jay Z elevator incident

Following the widely reported physical confrontation between Solange Knowles and her bother-in-law Jay Z, the ‘Losing You’ singer has seen sales of her music increase.

CCTV footage of Solange arguing with and trying to physically attack the ’99 Problems’ rapper was leaked earlier this month.

Ensuing press coverage of the story may have actually benefitted Beyoncé’s younger sister as a comparison of her music sales before and after the breaking news story show a significant boost.

Nielsen SoundScan data shows Solange’s sales the week before MET Gala fallout totalled 600. The week following the elevator attack her digital sales had risen to 2000.

Jay Z, Solange and Beyoncé have been keen to put the incident behind them by releasing a statement saying:

“The most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public.”
