The Rolling Stones and Madonna on list of highest grossing touring acts

The Rolling Stones have been named as the highest grossing touring act of the last 24 years.

Billboard have issued a list of the groups or performers who have earned the most through concerts from 1990 to the present.

They estimate that The Rolling Stones have pocketed $1,565,792,382 (£936,041,985) during that time period, with U2 in second place with $1,514,979,793 (£905,665,852)

Bruce Springsteen follows with earnings of $1,196,116,507 ($715,361,201) whilst Madonna is next with $1,140,230,941 (£681,937,730).

Other names who feature highly include Bon Jovi ($1,030,082,884/£616,072,574) and Sir Elton John ($786,791,043/£470,564,447).

The average age of the list's top ten is 56 and a half - and no artist is younger than 46.
