Beastie Boys won't make new music without Adam Yauch

Beastie Boys have said that they won't create new music or tour following the death of Adam Yauch.

The band member, who was also known as MCA, died in 2012 aged 47 after suffering from cancer.

The rap group are currently locked in a $2m lawsuit against Monster Energy Drink, who used a Beastie Boys song in an advertising campaign for five weeks before taking it down.

This is a contradiction of Yauch's will, which reads: "Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, in no event may my image or name or any music or any artistic property created by me be used for advertising purposes."

Speaking in court, Michael 'Mike D' Diamond said that the group won't be making new music in the absence of Yauch.

He said: "We have not been able to tour since MCA, Adam Yauch, died. We can't make new music...[and] we do not let our music get used in commercials for commercial products."

Monster lawyer Reid Kahn said that he thinks the company shouldn't have to pay out more than $125,000 for the breach.
