BBC announce first music awards ceremony

The BBC will host their first music awards ceremony later this year.

The broadcaster will hold the BBC Music Awards at London's Earls Court on December 11, with Chris Evans and Fearne Cotton hosting.

The ceremony will honour the best of the year's music and awards to be given out will include British Artist of the Year and Song of the Year.

The British Artist and International Artist awards will be determined by a panel of BBC presenters and producers, whilst viewers and listeners will choose the Song of the Year winner.

There will be numerous performances on the night, including special collaborations between music artists and the BBC Orchestra.

BBC Radio 1 and 2, as well as BBC One's The One Show, will broadcast behind the scenes coverage.
