Andy Murray on One Direction: 'I have a lot of respect for anyone that has to deal with that level of hysteria'

Tennis star Andy Murray has paid tribute to One Direction for their ability to cope with fame.

The Scot is currently attempting to win Wimbledon for a second year in a row and he has now become one of the biggest names in British sport.

Speaking to ESPN, the tennis player said, however, that he would find it hard to deal with fame if it was on the same level as One Direction.

Murray said: "I have a lot of respect for anyone that has to deal with that level of hysteria and fame. I'm still quite fortunate, I can put a cap on and walk my dogs with Kim and go relatively unnoticed. I can't imagine what it would be like if every time I left the house there were crowds of screaming fans.

"It must be tough, but then at the same time, if it weren't for those screaming fans then they wouldn't be as huge as they are. So I guess everything comes at a price."

One Direction stars Liam Payne and Niall Horan meanwhile were pictured at Wimbledon last week.
