Ed Sheeran and Metallica receive post-Glastonbury Spotify boost

Ed Sheeran and Metallica have seen their Spotify streams rocket since playing at Glastonbury.

The singer-songwriter played the Pyramid Stage on Sunday (June 29) at the festival whilst Metallica headlined on the Saturday (June 28).

Spotify UK have revealed that Sheeran has enjoyed a 195% rise in streams since his performance.

Metallica meanwhile have had a 165% increase, whilst fellow headliners Arcade Fire have seen their streams go up 148%.

Rodrigo y Gabriela (123%) and Dolly Parton (95%) have also had a sizeable increase.

The rise in Spotify hits comes as the Official Charts Company begin to count streaming in their singles chart, with 100 streams the equivalent of one sale.
