Lucy Hale: 'I was raised not to have a back-up plan and to be positive'

'Pretty Little Liars' actress Lucy Hale has revealed that she was raised to never have a 'back-up plan' because her parents always taught her to dream and to think positive.

Speaking to America's Seventeen magazine recently, the multi-talented sensation explained that her supportive family always encouraged her to go after what she wanted:

"My mom has taught me to think positive. My mom and I, we never had a backup plan. There was never a doubt like, 'Lucy, if this doesn't. we're gonna do X,Y, and Z.' It was always just, 'Why wouldn't it work out? Of course it will!'"

"I always knew I would do what I love, and there was no doubt that I would be happy."

She admitted that having a can-do attitude has helped her to get where she wants to be, adding: "Everyone has something that you like about yourself, and focus on what you love to do. Music is what helped me when I was dealing with a lot of difficult things-so whatever it is for you, just focus on that."
