Mick Jagger credits work with helping him through a "very hard year"

Mick Jagger has opened up about how he has been coping following the sudden death of his girlfriend L’Wren Scott.

The fashion designer committed suicide in March earlier this year. Her body was discovered by her assistant at her Manhattan apartment.

At the time of her death the Rolling Stone front man released a statement saying: “I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves.”

Following the cancellation of some Rolling Stones shows in the aftermath of Scott’s passing, Mick Jagger has since returned to performing and credits his work schedule with helping him through his distressing time.

Mick told NBC’s Today Show: “It’s a difficult, very hard year, but I got back into it by working on touring with the Stones in Europe and doing other things including doing this great movie.”

The “great movie” Jagger refers to is a biographical film about soul legend James Brown titled ‘Get On Up’ which he has produced.
