Actress Thandie Newton on Beyoncé: 'She's good for girls' souls'

'Crash' actress Thandie Newton, pictured left, has praised Beyoncé for empowering girls and women around the world

When asked by Britain's Observer magazine if high-profile figures such as Beyoncé are great role models for young women and girls, Newton explained that she thinks the 'Halo' icon is a fantastic example because she's strong and successful:

"I think when girls hear Beyoncé, it makes them move and want to lift their arms up and be strong, be powerful. She puts this energy of positivity out there which is good for people's souls."

"I think musicians are kind of like shamans: they're bringing the vibrations of a more spiritual state. So yes, I think that is really good for girls."

Songstress Nicole Scherzinger recently made a similar remark about Beyoncé: "She's no stranger, we all know her, we all love her. I'm inspired by her in every way as a singer, as a performer, as a woman, very empowering. And she's a great hugger as well, gives good hugs."
