Sam Smith: 'First proper writing session since my debut album and it feels so right'

Singer-songwriter Sam Smith is breaking records with his debut full-length offering, 'In The Lonely Hour', but he has just started writing new music for a follow-up album.

He shared a photograph on Instagram earlier this afternoon (July 23), which shows two whiskey glasses sitting on a counter next to a keyboard, and accompanied it with the telling caption: "First proper writing session for me since In The Lonely Hour. This feels so right."

Earlier this week, Smith confirmed that his new single will be 'I’m Not the Only One' and it follows 'Stay With Me', which topped the singles chart in the UK back in May.

He recently spoke about his success in America and confessed that he's overwhelmed at how well-received his music has been there: "In my gut I was hoping that they would cling on to the album but I honestly didn't think it would be like this. When I go over there it is just insane."
