Lorde tells young New Zealanders they should vote: 'You should be interested and involved'

New Zealand native Lorde has recorded a couple of public service announcements, in which she encourages young people to vote in her country's upcoming election.

The videos were filmed for New Zealand Electoral Commission and the election will take place on September 20, which the 'Royals' songstress explained is very important and something people should be interested in.

In the clip, she says: "Voting is one of those things I've weirdly been looking forward to for a long time [...] I think you should absolutely do it if you're old enough. There's so much that relates to you as a young person that you should be voting on."

"I know sometimes politics seems like a load of old people on the TV ranting at each other, and it doesn't feel particularly influenced by people like us, but I think we're creative and have the kinds of ideas that could revolutionise what it's like to live in New Zealand."
