Reading and Leeds Festival booker teases surprise set by 'arena act'

This year's Reading and Leeds Festival is now just a few weeks away and booker Jon McIldowie has teased that there might be a few surprises in store for fans who are attending the two outdoor music events.

During an interview with XFM, he was asked about the possibility of a big band doing a secret set at this year's festival and confessed that it's very likely as a group has already approached him:

"We always get calls about a month before the festival from bands saying, 'You know how we said we didn't want to play your festival, well now we're available and we really do,'. I've had about seven of those this year, including a couple from bands that are arena acts who want to do secret shows or do last-minute things."

When quizzed on if the secret slot will be filled by one of these 'arena acts', McIldowie added: "One of them will... It's going to be a surprise."

Already confirmed to perform this summer are Jimmy Eat World, who will play on both the main stage as well as the Lock Up stage, Paramore, Queens of the Stone Age, and Blink-182
