Sam Smith: 'Tinder and dating apps are ruining romance'

'Stay With Me' hitmaker Sam Smith has revealed that he really doesn't like dating apps such as Grindr and Tinder because they are sucking the romance out of meeting someone new.

Speaking about trying to connect with another person in a society where everything is immediate and, to an extent, disposable, the singer explained that judging someone solely on how they look is incredibly shallow as you never know who you might click with:

"No offence to people who go on Tinder but I just feel like it’s ruining romance, I really do. We’re losing the art of conversation and being able to go and speak to people and you’re swiping people."

"From my experience the most beautiful people I’ve been on dates with are the dumbest, so why would I swipe people who are “unattractive” when I could potentially fall in love with love? Stop Tinder and Grindr!"

Smith added to The Metro newspaper that he is 'getting better at dating' and has managed to fight off the nerves: "I’ve been on a couple of dates. I’m good at dates. I used to get really nervous but now I’m better. There is one particular guy that I’ve been on a few dates with. I like him but who knows?"
