Slipknot have confirmed the release of their fifth album.

The Iowa metallers will unleash '.5: The Gray Chapter' on October 20.

It will be their first since the death of bassist Paul Gray in 2010.

The record will feature the recently unveiled songs 'The Negative One' and 'The Devil In I'.

Slipknot meanwhile also announced that they travel across North America later this year as part of their Prepare For Hell Tour.

The run will kick off with two shows at the band's Knotfest event in California on October 25/26 before ending in Boston in December 7.

Singer Corey Taylor said of the dates: "We've been waiting a long time for this. Not only do we get to tour with friends who we respect, we've also chosen a band that represents the fury of the future. Slipknot is coming to your town.  And hell's coming with us."
