Royal Blood set to deny Ariana Grande UK No.1 album

Royal Blood are on course to hit No.1 with their debut album this weekend.

The Brighton rock duo unleashed their self-titled maiden effort on Monday (August 25) and the Official Charts Company have confirmed that it is topping the chart.

Their midweek update confirms that it is outselling its nearest rival - Ariana Grande's new effort 'My Everything' - by more than two copies to one.

At No.3 on the list is Ed Sheeran's 'x', which drops down one place.

The singer-songwriter is followed by last week's No.1 - Collabro's 'Stars' - whilst Sam Smith's rounds off the top five with 'In The Lonely Hour'.

Swedish prog-rockers Opeth meanwhile are No.7 with their new effort 'Pale Communion'.

Kate Bush - who performed her first live show in 35 years on Tuesday (August 26) - has eleven records in the top 100.

The highest placed entry is her greatest hits collection 'The Whole Story', which rests at No.6, with 'Hounds of Love' placed at No.13.

Other Bush entries include '50 Words For Snow' (No.31), 'The Kick Inside' (No.35) and 'Aerial' (No.77).
